I had a lung infection since just before May 19th,,it took 4 xrays,,CTscan,,,Petscan,,then a broncoscopy to find it. The doctor put me on CIPRO 500mg 2 times a day for a WEEK. Then he told me I was cleared up,,just by listening with his stethascope. It’s been 11days since I finished the Cipros,,,Should I still be weak and negative. I’m 69
Is this normal kidney stone activity?
I’m a 28 year old female and I’ve had several bouts with kidney stones over the years. My most recent was about a month and a half ago. I went to the ER for pain control, they didn’t want to expose me to radiation to scan me since it was pretty obvious what it was. I passed a 5mm stone 2 days later.
About 3 weeks ago, I had UTI symptoms accompanied by minor flank pain and pain radiating down into my groin and leg on my right side. An at home UTI test showed blood in my urine indicating an infection was likely so I went to my doctor. She suspected another stone based on the flank pain and groin pain, but put me on Cipro in case of infection. I was better in a couple of days, never passed a stone though. About a week later, the flank pain has returned and is steadily increasing in fequency and intensity, however, it’s still not near as intense as a full on attack, more like a dull ache with occassional sharp pains. It’s still radiating into my groin, hip and leg ocassionally. I’ve also noticed that I’m not urinating as much as usual. I’ve only gone 3 times today and it’s been dark yellow. I also feel bloated and just overall run down.
Does this all seem like normal stone activity? In the past, I’ve always gone from the UTI type pain to the intense stabbing pain within hours. And I’ve never had them this close together before. There was at least a year or two between each attack. If it is normal, with this pain picking up the last few days, when should I expect to pass it? Will I more than likely have the intense pain again? I’ve got my Vicodin ready to go just in case. I don’t leave home without it! And finally, should I be concerned about an obstruction b/c of my low urine output?
Wow, thanks for the quick responses. Just wanted to add that I have had a full work up and sent the stones out a couple years ago and they were calcium oxalate and my bloodwork was normal, so they gave me general dietary guidelines for moving forward.
Also, I have had some random pain on my other side. No where near as painful or frequent as my right side, but just some occassional twinges. Almost like my other kidney is working overtime. Does that make any sense? Who knows, could be in my head. I’m paying attention to every small ache and pain right about now!
Just started taking Cipro and am concerned about side effects.?
I was prescribed 500 mg. twice a day for seven days. I started taking it last night for a UTI. After reading about all of the complications, I am concerend about taking it. Are the side effects and complications I am reading about frequent? Do most people have the side effects? I don’t want to stop taking the medication, but I am a bit scared after reading about it. Diagnosed with Bronchitis 12 hours ago, question…?
Alright, so I’ve been coughing pretty bad for about 5-6 days now and having trouble breathing for about 2 days or so. I went to the ER about 12 hours ago and they took blood, did a chest x-ray, listened to my lungs/heart and said that I more than likely have Bronchitis.
The Dr gave me an inhaler and prescribed me Cipro 500mg twice a day for 10 days.
I think one thing I’m worried about is it seems as though I go through stages. One moment when I cough I’ll feel stuff move in my chest and it’ll allow me to slightly breath better even though I can still feel stuff. Another time (right now) I’ll have dry coughs with a seemingly clear nose but yet I still have trouble breathing. I took a shower and it seemed for a moment I was moving stuff when I coughed but then when I got back out it was the same thing. It seems as though at the moment I’m just trying to cough and hope I produce something that allows me to breathe better.
Should I be worried? Is it normal to have dry coughs with bronchitis that dont produce things at times? I’m guessing I’m going on 4 hours of dry coughs with not much chest action.
I took Robitussin DM a couple of hours ago, but the bottle said suppressant and exorbitant so I figured it’d be ok.

I had prostatitis 2.5 months ago. I took 6 weeks of cipro. But I steel have discomfort and urgency to urinate. What should I do?
Can GLUCOSAMINE SULFATE help protect tendons?
Was on Levaquin (like cipro) which causes tendon damage…think I may have some slight tendonitis. Can GLUCOSAMINE SULFATE help heal and/or protect tendons? Any ideas on what to take? Supposedly tendon damage can happen months after stopping taking the antibiotic.

Ok guys, i need some advice. I’m 20 years old and healthy..so i thought. Anyways 2 weeks ago i was in the er for a bladder infection that hurt SO bad. They put me on cipro for 10 days. Now i’ve been off cipro for 2 days, and my upper back or kidney area hurts so bad. I get sharp pains like every 10minutes.The worst part is when i eat anything,even soup, it sends me into horrible pain. Takes my breathe away. I plan on going to the doctor tomorrow but i dont know if i can make it through the night with this pain. Oh yea…it doesn’t hurt when i pee and there has only been a little bit of blood once. Thanks for the advice guys!!
would these antibiotics help?
OK please all ’shame shame’ on you aside….I have extra amounts of the antibiotics cipro (from previous kidney infection) and doxycycline left from another infection. RIght now I am 100% positive that I have a sinus infection, due to upper left side toothache and left sided cheek pain and left side nasal blockage. I KNOW I KNOW that when you do not have a full course of antibiotics your body can become immune to these. I prefer not to take the cipro since it is SOOOO hardcore on my body, hence why I did not finish it. I reakky don’t feel like going to the doc if I can avoid it because I have already been there several times lately for migraines. Let me know please, if the doxycycline will do the trick (I have a full course of these). Thanks.
or should I just get some claritin D and hope it clears on it’s own.
anyone get pregnant while taking the pill?? antibiotics, seasonique & ortho novum users?
So I was taking Seasonique which is one of those 3months at a time pills-meaning you only get your period every 3months. I took that for one pack which=3months, had a period then started the next pack but only got through 2months of it then decided to stop that one and get a new pill because I was just starting to feel depressed and awful. At the end of that 2months I also thought I had a urinary tract infection and was prescribed Cipro during the “period” week and was told it decreased effectiveness of b.c. for the rest of the month. My period was different but I chalked it up to the antibiotics. Well we weren’t careful anyway and I started my new pill Ortho Novum. I have 3 days of it left and have been sooo exhausted and nauseated for about the last 3wks. I sleep alot yet want more. I am nauseous and alcohol repulses me yet if I drink any at all I gag or feel really buzzed-which is unusual. And I keep getting really dizzy very easily. I’m a dancer and spins do make me dizzy after a bit….but this is like one spin and I want to throw up, not to mention it just comes and goes w/o movement. My husband even asked the other night what was wrong w/ my equilibrium. Could I possibly be pregnant?? I don’t even know if I could be or how far along I could possibly be but after reading alot online many women have not only gotten pregnant on the pill but also had a “period”……anyone’s experiences or advice would be great
